LED Lighting

Whats up everyone, just wanted to put up some pictures and a quick review of the LED bulbs I just swapped in.

So I bought everything from Diode Dynamics, shipping was quick. The USPS however sucks and caused me not to get my order for a few days.
The LEDs seem to be good quality, time will tell however. I will update this in a few weeks/months on how the bulbs hold up.

On to the fun part.

The pictures don't do the license plate bulbs any justice. They aren't bright to the point of distorting the plate. In person they are a nice white, looks very crisp, clean, and classy.

The bulb used in the license plate pictures:

Cool White (6000K)
Bulb Model:
SMD2 (24 lumens)

Next to the trunk! So the stock bulb isn't all that bright, not to mention the stock location for the light also is lacking. The LED bulb is brighter, not as much as I would have wanted but something is better than nothing. The big appeal here, is that the nice white light looks so much better.

SMF6 (94 lumens)

Finally, the best yet! I have a sunroof, and as such I lose the dome light. The stock map lights aren't terrible, but far from great. The difference here is seriously night and day. I would say I will only ever need one map light on at once. With both on, I can probably light the areas next to the car. I uploaded two interior photos. I'm sure I don't need to explain which is which.

So I do apologize for the sideways photos, simply put its 2 AM and im lazy. My closing thoughts are that for what all this cost, its money well spent. Should I have any issues in the coming weeks/months ill come back and update.

I hope this helps some people, I found a lack photos on the LED swaps. If anyone wants different pictures or more of something, just let me know.

I spent $37 dollars, but I purchased two sets of license plate lights. A brighter and dimmer set. Wasn't sure if I would like how bright the smd2 is. But I think it's perfect.

And no dim that I've noticed, I'll double check when I leave work in about an hour. Everything has been working great so far.

Its amazing what a difference LEDs will make to the interior of your car at night. Looks great!
It really is awesome, I love how bright the interior lights are now.

It really does look a lot nicer. The license plate lights really make it look good at night. More of a clean, modern appearance.

Looks good. I agree that the light is not that bright in the trunk so I'm thinking of putting LED strips.
Ya, the light in the trunk unfortunately is just a bad design. The LED bulb did brighten it up, but if you really want to illuminate the entire trunk a LED strip or a relocation might be beneficial. I saw it on EvoM when I was searching, but someone bought a generic LED board and ran it to the center of the trunk.

Not sure if this link will even work or if its even allowed to be linked.
But that's the thread.

Thanks for posting pictures Quick!

We are planning on having an Evo X in for product comparison shots within the next few weeks and adding a complete vehicle kit for the Evo X.

I think you made some great choices, although we do have brighter options for the trunk. Here's a similar bulb comparison for trunk use:

The flex-light is definitely the brightest option, but won't fit with the lens housing on.
