Well, it's been (5) days now, and SEIBON has not replied to my emails. I decided to give them a call to see where we stand. I was told that they are "working on it". Not sure if that means they are making another hood or what.
Who did you talk to? It may take months, FYI to get it resolved. I sent in my pictures and claim in, I called every week, still took months. I admit they are SLOW and "will get back to you" and they never do. But that is like any major brand...try calling HKS or Greddy, I bet response is the same. I have never dealt with them but I wouldn't expect them to do much when you are one customer and they have the backing of THOUSANDS of vendors.

Then what does that mean? Am I stupid and don't get something becuase I have 0 "JDM" parts?

Maybe I should get on eBay? Hahaha.

Oh, of course, because it has to be JDM to be QUALITY! :ghey:

/Sarcasm

It sucks that these hoods are doing this. I've seen some quality stuff by Seibon, and I definitely think your matte hood is tight, except for the cracks. Hopefully this is just a bad batch and the OP can get in touch with Seibon and get the hood fixed under warranty.

SEIBON is made in CHINA
Thats a very general statement.
SEIBON carbon fiber products are designed, engineered, and QC'd in America.
The actual carbon fiber material they use as well as the coatings are produced in France, and America.
They assemble the products in China yes, but calling it "Made" in China is like saying Volkwagen is "Made" in Mexico.

Is it lol jk
I think if the majority of the parts is assembled in that country...
Then it qualifies as it being made there. Call a duck what you want
At the end of the day its still a duck...but who gives a duck anyways right? :D

let me refraze. ALL SEIBON Carbon Fiber Parts and Accessories are MANUFACTURED in CHINA. By manufacture i mean that these parts are made from the ground up, not the materials to make the parts, but the actual parts. The fiberglass in molded and the carbon is layed in CHINA.

does anyone have first hand exp. w/ the seibon oem cf wing?
I dont' know of any other alternative...i like the stock wing design but hate the inner unpainted crap on the oem wing.

There is a bit of difference involved with a wet lay up carbon product and a dry carbon product

the dry carbon process is more expensive reason being that the part is formed using a pre preg carbon and is cured in a pressurized autoclave the part that comes out is strong as well as very light. the reason y your dry carbon is fading is that the hood isn't coated with a uv protectant as you notice most race cars like the HKS TT Evo carbon looks like this as it is for weight reducing purposes. Epoxy resin isnt cheap as the price for a gallon for epoxy resin is a few hundred compaired to the polyester resin that is a few hundred for a whole 50 gallon drum. the reason why is epoxy resein you dont usemuch of the resin while when doing a hood versus polyester as im sure you guys have seen that thick layer of resin on some of your hoods that start to fade.

But as far as ordering a unclear coated hood dont expect it to last long under the sun with the finish on it that is actually how it was when it was poped out the mold. if you guys have any other questions regarding dry carbon stuff just ask ill be happy to help answer as my company does quite a bit of dry carbon composite parts.

okay so i have a question, lets say you were going to paint the dry carbon part (for weight savings) anyways because you can't stand the look of cf (there are some people out there that prefer it this way)...would it then matter at all? i mean or would you still have to treat the dry cf with some kind of sealer/protectant first? as far as it changing colors or discoloring, that's just that is it? or does leaving the cf out in the sun actually damage the dry cf?

it wouldnt matter as you would be painting it any way so it would been seen. as far as treating the cf part before you paint it is not necessary.

as far as the dry carbon leaving it out in the sun will fade the carbon unless it is coated with a uv protectant it will fade no matter what.

I never said it was funny that you worked for them. I found it funny you said "the company". I love APR and have the GTC-300. I personally have been to APR as I work at a shop that is a vendor of APR. So don't worry. I have personally talked with Peter a few times too.
