LoL 13 pages of reading just to go with OE fluids. Sigh.
Well some have had bad luck but honestly my SST trans is pushed to the limits for torque at least in the 3500-4500 rpm range and it's holding close to 400 Dynojet WTQ for street and road course work.

Currently I'm using a mix of 1/3 OEM and 2/3 VWG052182 Fluid meant for the VW DCG. That takes a bit of the sting out of the price and still has some OEM fluid to keep the seals good if that is really an issue.

No leaks and everything seems fine. :)

I used Fred too.

Last I checked it was 125ish per gallon at fredbeans. I got mine from there. Came stoopid fast:rock:
Interesting I paid about 280 total including shipping but they didn't even send me any shipping info or respond to an email, PM or voicemail. After 10 days I filed a PayPal claim then 2 days later they sent the shipping info and it was at my house that same day.

I'd like to say I'd use them again but I'd almost rather pay a little bit more for some decent customer service & communication

anyone here used Motul DCTF?
Its currently available close to my place, and it costs half of what Diaqueen is..
I'm tempted to try!

Only person I know of is SSP And that was a gtr. At least here in the US, it's more expensive.

RRP of a 4liter tin of SST fluid = $226 in Australia. some dealers charge upwards of $260 per tin!

just like our cars, all our OEM parts pretty much cost double :(

Ive been using Motul DCTF for about 1k miles now. For daily drive it's fine, but if you push the car really hard, the clutch will slip, rmp goes up for about half a second, and it will bang in again, then the ASC light will come on. I've had this problem 4-5 times now. Now Im thinking about switching back to OEM, since I cannt get my hands on anyother allternatives.

That's an interesting data point, I'm assuming spirited driving on the street while the tranny temps are 150-200*F or are we talking track use when it's closer to 250*F + ? Generally you will see the most slip when getting into full boost/torque while the engine/trans are still warming up.

I'm also assuming that you made no other changes on your car or driving style but changed the tranny fluid from OEM to Motul.

I just used OEM tranny oil with SSP drop in filter. Maybe I will clean that filter every 3000miles.
That's what I am doing very soon.

Just received mail from Febi/Bilstein:

MAIL:

Thank you for your request.

For Mitsubishi X TC-SST / Diaqueen SSTF-1 we recommend using febi DSG Transmisson oil. Febi Number 39070

39070 is 1L and 39071 5L.

Any opinions about Febi DSG oil (39071) it should be compatible with Dia Queen SSTF-I.
It is really cheap only 74,9€/5L.

I have tested several transmission fluids in the SST. I only recommend OEM. If you search, I have made several posts regarding this issue with more detailed explanation.

Repost: Add MOTUL to the Pentosyn pile

I have been saying this for years. I have dealt with every single fluid available for the SST. I only recommend one. Genuine OEM, even when I suspect that other "over the counter" fluids may be close to identical. However the DCT470 does not like the FFL family of fluids.

By the numbers.
1. The OEM's have specific specifications that fluid delivered to them must meet. Over the counter fluids have no such requirement, and as such the fluid may not be identical, even if it is made by the same company for the same application.

2. The SST operates in a "gain" mode most of the time. The slip rate vs pressure rate that the transmission uses to control this slip is hard programmed, and the transmission tends to react poorly to anything that changes the dynamic friction rating of the clutches, even if it INCREASES it. (Dynamic friction refers to the state where the clutches are engaged, but in a controlled slip state, aka as "normal" mode for the SST)

3. Wet clutch friction properties are highly susceptible to change with different fluid properties due to the friction material absorbing the fluid. Even the glue used to adhere the friction paper to the plate effects the properties of the clutch. This change may be permanent if left for a long enough period of time.

I searched for SSP Gold in this thread and only received 3 results, but none that describe the use of the fluid besides a post regarding Jack's Transmission, which shows promising non-leakage results.

Apart from that, is there any reason why SSP gold should / shouldn't be used in the SST?
