AMS Under Hood Shifter Bushings - Squeak

So it has been a few months since I installed my AMS under hood shift bushings and I have started to develop a very noticeable squeak when shifting, primarily from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd. After talking with some friends I decided to remove all of the bushings and grease them with some synthetic grease and holy crap! I think that made just as much improvement as any of the other shifter mods thus far. I really do not know why the manufacturers do not recommend greasing these mechanical connections. Maybe they are worried about dust/sand, I don't know. But it takes 10 minutes to clean and reapply in the event they do get dirty.

I had noticeable wear marks from the parts moving against each other. Now everything is silky smooth. Almost scary smooth...

Just under hood. Like I said you could see some black rings from the metal wear. I totally didn't want to do it but I am glad I did. It really took the edge off of the shift. Console bushings don't move so no real need to do that.

BigStevbowski,

Check out my review of TWM's bushings:

I only greased the Transmission Arm bushing and it made a huge difference as my shifter was NOT moving from side to side unless I used 2 hands. I'll probably go back in and grease the 2 cable bushings as well and see how much difference that makes. It definitely makes a HUGE difference if you grease them, so I'd recommend you do so.

You definitely want to grease the short shifter. There's a lot more points of contact with the shifter so greasing it is a must. It would definitely help and it is recommended anyways. :)
