ETS V2 Quiet Drone...suggestions

hey guys
I had a bunch done to my car over the past two days. TBE consists of the ETS recirculated DP, ETS HFC, and ETS V2 Quiet Catback.

I am noticing that between 2000 and 4000 rpms, regardless of gear, it seems like there is a drone in the car....especially if you let off to just coast...that is when I notice it the most. I get a pretty good hum going on in there. Anything under 2K or over 4K is the sound i was expecting.

Any suggestions what to do.......welding a resonator was mentioned but not sure if that will even solve it. Nothing is rubbing either. Even thinking of dynamating under the spare now!!!! :)

Any suggestions/input at all I would appreciate
thanks

I welded in a resonator into my test pipe for an invidia N1 and it quieted the drone immensely. After cams, manifold, map dp, etc, it was painful to stand 10 ft behind my car. Took out the frequency that causes the resonance through the cabin. It was the vibrant ultra quiet which is basically the mini muffler from the UR exhausts and the resonator from the AMS test pipe.

Dynamat won't help much. It is made to keep stuff from vibrating and isolate, not block, noise. Neoprene sound deadening works well and even a big fluffy blanket in the trunk will muffle it some. But, unless you address the root cause I don't think you'll affect much.

Straight through design like this may be something to look into. I want to avoid having it retuned and I guess something like this may help a bit.

resonated test pipe might be a bit quieter than hfc

OP, I have a similar setup. You mentioned you just installed these parts correct? I noticed the slight drone mellowed once the exhaust and piping was finally "broken into". I hardly notice it on my setup.

yep, just installed. I was under the impression there is no drone in the V2 Quiet.

I had a SLP loudmouth 1 on my charger...hated it due to drone. Tore it off and got a corsa and that was hands down the best exhaust i ever had...however I am comparing apples to oranges.

Suprisingly it is not as bad when cold...but when it heats up I notice it. If you let off the gas in 3rd/4th and are between 2250 and 3250 rpms it hums loud. Same when accelerating. Between 2500 and 3500 particularly it sucks, but above that....quiet as anything.

Maybe i will give it a week or two to tone down, but I really though the quiet was supposed to have no drone. Sure, I expected louder and our cars are not all that insulated, but drone is a no-no.

I have the same setup except I have a test pipe. No droning here..

Its not bad....but I can't stand drone. Highway drone I was expecting.......not a drone anytime I am between 2500 and 3500 rpms...especially decelerating.

I did notice however that it gets worse when it gets hot. I don't however hear any rattling or anything that would suggest rubbing.

Well looks like I am gonna add a small magna flow muffler behind my ets muffler. Shouldn't make a difference in power but will quiet her down

I used to have this exhaust, I was actually blown away by the lack of drone. I've had 4 exhausts since, none even came close to how quiet the ETS quiet was. Just an observation.

I had the exact same setup for a couple months, ets recirc dp, hfc and quiet v2. Alot of it has to do with the lack of a resonator, the location you put it at also really changes the tone. Just like you, the drone was the killer for me. I ended up putting a resonated test pipe in as well as fabbing in another resonator near the muffler which really helped with overall noise and the drone around 3k.
