Does anyone know what spark plugs are recomended for the MR X? I was thinking about the HKS S-Series? if anyone has any better ideas let me know?
So based on that. I would actually stick with stock unless your running higher boost than the rest of us.You'll find that the Evo X already has a cold plug with a heat range of "8". The higher the number signifies a "colder" plug. Running the coldest possible plug is always best. You'll know if its to cold that the car won't run well under idle and cold start. The plug can misfire if its too cold of a heat range.
The colder the plug or higher the number can allow for a cooler combustion and also is good for high boost application so that the plug doesn't pre-ignite the mixture which can cause detonation or pinging. Since we already have an 8 heat range you can stick with that. 9s are pretty cold for most cars and are really mainly used for racing applications where idlinglow engine speed won't be seen very much.
Since the Evo X runs high boost from the factory, Mitsubishi already threw in a cold plug which is needed for most of us running 91 octane.
The stock plugs aren't exactly the cheapest ones out there. It's very difficult to get a better spark plug than what this engine uses stock. Why spend all this money and cheap out on the Spark plugs.
