Toyo R1R or Advan AD08 Tyres?

Hi there

Looking for some new tyres for the EVO X.

My driving style is very fast street and AutoX.

I see the R1R is standard fitment on EVO X FQ-400 and is recommended by Mitsubishi.

But Ive seen the AD08 gets some rave reviews and has 180 treadwear and 8mm tread depth compared to the R1R's 140 treadwear and 6.5mm tread depth so should last a little longer.

So any one here had any experience/feedback on the R1R's and AD08's please?

I have AD08s and they're badass. I'd definitely go for them. Extremely nice grip and feel. It's very easy to know when you're getting close to the edge and losing grip just before sliding.

AD08s are about $250 each in stock size.

I'd definitely go AD08s over the R1R. The R1R have soft sidewalls and is known to overheat when you track them. Also, AD08 has less road noise, better tire wear and more grip.

I have a new set of AD08 I am planning on putting on when my RE01R wear out.

R-888's are mega sticky! Just don't last very long and do how a bit at higher speeds. I would vote for those if you track the car regularly.

Nope car is tracked rarely, but see's a lot of fast street driving. If I did a lot more track driving R888's would be top of my list.

So need a tyre thats geared more towards extreme street driving and last, plus works when its wet and colder too.

Wet has been fine, still nice and grippy, but it hasn't gotten below 40 since I've had them so I dunno. This is my first set, so no input on miles.

im running R1R's . They are excellent tires. They are great in wet too so in dry.
I even run them below 34 -32 F. And they still hold it up oke. they weren't great but hey that is not they heat range.
I think is a great choice for both DD and track.
The R888's are better in dry hands down. But as soon as raining or getting cold , the R1R takes over.
Also i have quiet few racing miles int them and they still in great condition.

also i like the way the R1r looks vs the advan, but that is personal.

I have the AD08's, 2 track days on them so far, they are great, robi says they are perfect for the evo as well. Street ride is excellent, much better than the stock advans, tire noise is less and ride harshness is improved. The R1R can be prone to cracking at very low temps<30F and as per toyo should be stored in a warmer environment in those temps. I would believe that a 140 treadwear rating would be better for warm weather and track, but as people have posted, there may be issues w/ overheating. The ADO8's do get the tiniest bit greasy at the end of a 30 min lap sessioin, but they wear really nice and are super predictable otherwise.
