In US Dollars?

That's more than double the street value of any EVO. And it will set off fraud flags everywhere.

IMHO.
Two of my friends are insured for $100k and the other one probably like $70k for their built Subaru's. $700/year, no deductibles, and no mileage restrictions.

I don't know the details because I haven't followed up on it. Like I said, when I get my second car (the Prelude is gone) I will be looking into this.

While there may be some, there aren't many that will accept modern (new within the last ten years) "normal" cars into collector car policies except what we normally call exotics (Z-06, ZR1, Ferrari. Lambo, etc.).

Please do get more details on your friends with 100K Agreed Value policies on late model Subs. I'd be very interested to know the details. $700/year for $100K Agreed Value coverage seems low to me.

A quick on-line quote from Grundy:
2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti

Agreed Value: $100,000.00
Coverage Type Deductible Premium
Collision $0.00 $500.00
Comprehensive $0.00 $700.00

2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution GSR Sedan

Agreed Value:$60,000.00
Coverage Type Deductible Premium
Collision $0.00 $300.00
Comprehensive $0.00 $420.00

That's $1200/year for the 100K sub and $720 for a 60K EVO. No options to set use type or mileage. All the quick quote indicated was that the vehicles must be garaged.

So moral of the story is... I need to get State Farm :D

I wonder if we even have it up here in MA

EDIT: Just checked... State Farm does not have coverage in Mass and RI... Go figure
I tried to get State Farm insurance the other week and found out the same thing; they don't offer "new" policies in those states. I have Progressive insurance and have the stated value of my Evo set at 60K. Progressive said they may or may not cover me for that value, but that I'd definitely have to prove it's worth that much if anything were to happen. I hit a utility pole with my Tacoma three weeks ago and they have been a pain in the ass to deal with. After my recent struggles with them, I have my doubts they'd cover my Evo for the 60K it's supposed to be insured for. We really get the shaft here in Mass on many different accounts. Keep the lube close by...

Great info. Thanks! I do wonder how much of a pain in the ass it would be to collect however when push comes to shove. Like Brian said below, they say the'll insure you but then when things go wrong they may go out of their way to nitpick your policy or drag out the case forever.

In my experience most insurance professionals are not the brightest/most diligent group of people in the world unless you get a really good one.

"Stated Value" is worthless. All that does is increase your premium - there is no agreement as to an established max value the insurance company will pay.

And all of my dealings with Progressive are similar to yours: They're not gonna pay for nothing anyway == totally worthless

Remember folks: You want an "Agreed Value" policy, NOT a "Stated Value" one.

With an Agreed Value policy - and not violating the terms of the policy, I've never had any problem at all.

I've had multiple cars stolen and insurance will not pay you for your aftermarket parts + the car's value if it's totaled even is you have the additional coverage. It's a scam, that's why it's not a lot of money to add it to your coverage, they don't pay it out. Here's how they get away with it...

Say you spend $2,000 on coilovers. You then remove $2,000 worth of OEM suspension parts and replace them with the $2,000 coilovers you just got. Net gain is $0 as far as they're concerned. Not that the street price is $2,000 on the OEM parts but that doesn't matter. They'll go by retail dealer prices on the parts.
That's what I figured. But I confirmed repeatedly with my state farm agent that in the event of a total loss or stolen vehicle they will comp me fair market value for any aftermarket parts on the vehicle. in the case of it being stolen i just need photo's and receipts proving the parts were on the vehicle.

Thanks for the info. What's the best way to get this accomplished? Have an appraiser look over the vehicle, receipts, and state its value before dealing with the insurance company?

Generally speaking aftermarket parts are cheaper than OEM parts bought through the dealer. If you need a new turbo, the dealer dramatically marked up price that the dealer quotes to your insurance company is going to be at least as expensive as, or higher than, the cost of an aftermarket turbo. I had an accident where I busted up 2 wheels. I was fully comped for both stock GSR wheels. I was comped at 850.00 PER WHEEL because thats what it costs through mitsubishi. As a result, I took the 850 bucks per wheel, and supplemented a bit of my own cash and got an set of Volks. The stock GSR Enkeis realistically shouldn't cost more than 3-400 bucks per wheel, but mitsu sells them for over 800 each.

Depends on the company offering the insurance. Some want you to justify the increased cost over just a base car. Most want to see pics of the car and the garage it lives in.

Depends on the specific company. Call them and ask.

hehe, I know right! it's freaking great. just got comped at that price for all 4 wheels, more money then i paid for my volks. Bought a set of sa55ms to dd on, some hossier r6 for auto-x, and still have lots of $$$$ left over. I love insurance

Those of you insured by USAA, how did you get a reasonable rate from them? I've tried a few times and they are not at all competitive with other companies on the X. we're talking 300+/mo for a 28yo with no accidents or tickets...

I don't know how it works out but I get 60/month with Gieco full coverage, maybe they think it's just a plain lancer. Got some major curb rash on two of my stockers. Wondering if it would be worth turning it into insurance.

=Jason-

I just bought a car to use as a dd to keep the miles from piling up on my EVO. Even with 3 cars and 1 driver they quoted me 496.14/mo.... Geico quoted 116 for the same coverage.

What does your driving record look like. I'm 24 and pay 250 a month for car, renters and valuable items or what ever the fuck they call it and that is just the evo no second car at the moment. Also where are you getting it insured at reason I ask is it's an extra 30 a month for me to have insurance for Norfolk, VA when my car is registered in Roanoke, VA.
