Want.

Hey who remembers the subframes from a verry old thread, where they were PC'd purple? What ever happened to that thread? Lack of interest/money?
I think that was by STM or some shop in NY state. Can't remember. I might be completely wrong. But yeah, they decided nobody was going to buy it to make it worth their Development time etc. It just ended up being a one-off piece.

Genuinely curious.. Aside from whatever weight you shave off, what are the main advantages of having a light weight subframe?

ĂŚt is supposedly stiffer so it provides more rigidity

10 pounds...ugh, not enough for me to care. I'd rather eat less food to lose 10lbs.

I am hoping its a bit more significant than that for a lightweight piece.

It's not rotating mass so 10 lbs doesn't appeal to me.

Pretty sure those were done by a company called "InsaneSpeed" which is out in Vegas I believe. STM has never built a subframe from chromoly as far as I know......well not yet at least

It all adds up though. This is one of those items you get when you've done everything else, or you're building a full out race car. Every pound matters.

True.

I guess I have a lot of other stuff to do first before I look at this.

this. I'm almost at that point. Only lighter parts I can get is rotors, driveshaft and front cross member. Everything else that doesn't cost anything or cheap, has already been done.

Magnus subframe weighs 13.2 lbs. Considering our evos are heavier in the front, every lbs helps.
The evo x ones does or the CT9A one does?

And what does the factory one weigh?

I think these are the big questions, factory weight vs new weight for the evo x one.

As most people said, probably 10-15 lbs different but good info to know.

I was hoping it dropped more as well. I did confirm 10 lbs less and just under $1700. It looks nice, and if you are in competitive racing, 10 lbs can be important if you have no where else to lose it.
